Frequently Asked Questions
They can barely use their phone. Can they really do this?
If they can tap a notification, they can use this. We've designed for the absolute minimum technical ability. No typing, no scrolling, no passwords to remember.
They've rejected every tech solution I've suggested.
This is different because it asks almost nothing of them. Show them: notification appears, they tap it, done. Under 3 seconds. Most resistance comes from complexity—this has none.
What if they don't have a smartphone?
They need at minimum a basic smartphone that can receive notifications. If they only have a flip phone, a family member might help them upgrade to a simple Android device.
Can someone else set it up for them?
Absolutely. You install the app, configure everything, and hand them back the phone. All they ever see is a reminder notification and a check-in button.
They accidentally uninstall apps all the time. What happens if they delete it?
If I'm Alive is removed from their phone, they will stop checking in and you will be alerted through the normal missed check-in process. You can then reinstall it for them on your next visit. To prevent accidental deletion, most smartphones allow you to lock apps or hide the uninstall option in settings, which you can configure when you set up their phone.
